The government of Cameroon is not only stepping up the fight against the corruption cankerworm but strongly believes that the fight must be carried out by people of all generations. Considering that corruption has existed since the beginning of humanity, there is the need to hand over the fight to posterity so that probably at a certain point in time corruption may be drastically reduced in the country.
This certainly explains the rejuvenation drive in the actors involved in the fight against corruption which from every indication is salutary. In pursuit of the resolute determination to curb corruption in Cameroon, the President of the Republic Paul Biya on May 19, 2025 appointed seven new members of the Coordination Committee of the anti-corruption institution, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). The new members who constitute new blood injected to reinvigorate the fight against corruption in the country both in the public and private sectors took the oath of office on Friday, June 27, 2025 in a special session presided by the Chief Justice of the Judicial Bench of the Supreme Court, Fonkwe Joseph Fongang. The youths are expected to be more effective and efficient in the anti-corruption crusade considering that they are armed with the various technological advancement tools to tackle the ever-evolving forms of corruption that are also highly digitized now.
The National Anti-Corruption Commission is at the forefront of the combat against corruption in Cameroon, piloting the National Strategy on the fight. The members who represent the younger generation and indicate the desire for continuity in the crusade until the country can breathe a sigh of relief, must follow the directives given them during the oath-taking special session. The oath, they were told, is the first step for the accomplishment of their delicate missions and therefore calls for a sense of responsibility, ponderation and discernment. They are called upon to carry out their missions with courage and independence as they are protected by the law.
