The women’s national cricket team of Cameroon has recorded its first victory at the ongoing International Cricket Council T20 Women’s World Cup Division 2 Africa Qualifiers for Africa in Gaborone. They beat Lesotho 105-50 runs during their second game at the Bostwana Cricket Council Association Oval 2 ground in Gaborone on Monday July 21, 2025. During their first outing in the tournament on Sunday July 20, 2025, the Cricket Lionesses were beaten 110-71 runs by Malawi. Cameroon will face Rwanda today July 23, 2025 in the last group A match of that competition at the BCA Oval 2 ground.
Prior to their departure, the cricket Lionesses trained intensively in their hideout in Yaounde. Also, the 2025 Joint Domestic League tournament that ended on July 13, 2025 also served as preparation for the team. The national team coach, Solefack, said the squad prepared well for the tournament in Botswana and that he and the technical benched worked on some issues that they saw in the last edition in Rwanda like fitness, batting and lack of infrastructure. “We worked on all the compartment of the game,” he said. One of the players, Waluma Brenda, said she and her team mates trained well and promised that they were going to make good use of the instructions of their coaches in order not to make the same mistakes of the previous edition.
