Cameroon-China : New Ambassador Takes Office

XU Yong presented the advance copies of his letters of credence to External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella on August 5, 2025.

The newly designated Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, XU Yong has presented the advance copies of his letters of credence to External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella. This was during an audience the Minister granted the diplomat on August 5, 2025 at the Ministry of External Relations. 
Before becoming Ambassador, XU Yong served as Consul General of China in Surabaya, Indonesia, a position he occupied since 2022. Indeed, the diplomat who joined the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995 has occupied several positions before becoming Head of Mission in Cameroon. Between 2021 and 2022, he was Counsellor at the Department of European Affairs at his home Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He occupied the same position between 2018 and 2020, and later served, for one year, as Deputy Mayor in Yanqing, in the municipality of Beijing. For a period of three years, that is between 2015 and 2018, XU Yong was Counsellor at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the special administrative region of Hong Kong. Prior to that, he was successively Counsellor at the Chinese Permanent Mission at the European Union and Counsellor at the Embassy of China at the Kingdom of Denmark. From 2004 and 2010, he served as Deputy Director, then later Director at the Department of European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
