Independence : Chadians Celebrate 65th National Day

The event on August 11 2025 was a colourful tapestry of culture, history, and unity, drawing Chadians from various walks of life residing in Douala.

Chadians in Douala gathered to celebrate their 65th National Day, marking the anniversary of Chad's independence from French colonial rule in 1960. The event was a colourful show of culture, history, and unity, drawing Chadians from various walks of life residing in Douala. 
The celebrations took place in the presence of the Governor of the Littoral region, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, and other diplomatic bodies in the region. The Consul General of Chad to Douala, Mr. Djimet Abdallah, said the road to independence wasn’t a bed of roses. He gave a brief historical background of their road to independence.
The Consul General used the opportunity to thank the Cameroon government for hosting Chadians. He also urged Chadians living in Douala to be disciplined and respect the laws of Cameroon. It was also a day for the Chadians in Cameroon to showcase their culture.
