National Civic Service : 150 Youth To Enforce Exemplary Values

This was at the end of the 12th edition of the Civic Service Conscript Training for the Centre Region on August 13, 2025 in Yaounde.
Young people in Cameroon have been enlightened on the significance of civic service and patriotism, while also being cautioned against the risks associated with narcotics consumption and tribalism. This took place during the closing ceremony of the 12th training session for the 2025 National Civic Service Conscript in the Centre Region, which culminated with the presentation of certificates to participants. The ceremony was presided over by Paulin Etoundi, Secretary General of the Governor's Office in the Centre Region.
Paulin Etoundi, representing the Governor, emphasised on upholding national unity and civic consciousness, warning against tribalism's dangers, especially amid upcoming political events. He stressed that national civic service requires respect for the country, its symbols, and flag, and that embracing diversity is crucial in a nation with nearly 300 ethnic groups. Etoundi noted that tribalism is rampant on social media, where youth are highly active, and emphasized that honouring the national flag symbolises harmony among citizens. He emphasized that no one can truly honour the national flag without being in harmony with fellow citizens. Hence, the importance of cultural diversity in achieving Cameroon's 2035 development goals. 150 youths (97 boys, 53 girls; aged 17-21) from 10 divisions in the Centre Region completed a month-long training programme covering topics on, First aid, Environmental protection, Civic and social education and Reproductive health.
