What do you think are some underlying causes of youths associating with bad companions in society?
Negative peer influence often involves vulnerable youths and "bad friends" who are shaped by socio-environmental factors like family dynamics, socio-economic deprivation, and unguided media exposure. Peer group influence plays a significant role, especially during adolescence, when children navigate significant changes and may be drawn to alternative lifestyles. Factors like parental neglect, socio-economic constraints, and a breakdown in ethical values can contribute to this vulnerability, leading children to adopt negative behaviors and attitudes.


What role do social norms, family dynamics, and community factors play in shaping the youth's friendships? 
Just as negative influences can impact youngsters, positive influences can also profoundly shape their growth and development. The family serves as the foundation for good upbringing, fostering primary relationships and orienting children towards various life paths, including education, faith, career choices, and social values. The moral fabric of society, defined by values, norms, and ethics, plays a crucial role in distinguishing right from wrong and regulating behaviour. In times of crisis, such as conflict, moral decay, or institutional failure, youth friendships can be significantly affected, either positively or negatively. Conversely, in stable contexts, these relationships can contribute to the social cohesion that underpins enduring societies. 


What are some potential long-term consequences of any young person associating with bad friends? 
On one hand, negative peer influences can lead to delinquency and crime, with small connections potentially escalating into gang activity and banditry. Some even die in the process. The line between delinquent groups and criminal gangs can be thin, and it is not uncommon for youths to cross over as they grow older. However, this does not mean that young people blindly follow their peers. Many individuals discover that they have taken the wrong path and make a conscious decision to change, often after encountering difficulties with their associates.


How can youths be supported in developing positive relationships and distancing themselves from negative influences or bad friends?
