Possible Alliances : Any Ground Covered?

As official campaigns for the Presidential election approach, meetings amongst members of opposition political parties multiply. Some are meeting on bilateral basis, while other meetings include the broad-based opposition leaders. While discussions in some of the meetings have not been disclosed, others have fallen short of producing a breakthrough on the subject of a unique candidate from the opposition to challenge President Paul Biya of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM). 
Just recently, Bello Bouba Maigari, flagbearer of the National Union for Democracy and Progress (NUDP) met with Akere Muna, presidential candidate for the UNIVERS political party. The August 11, 2025 meeting at the headquarters of UNIVERS in Yaounde, was in the presence of the National President of the party, Prof. Nkou Mvondo and nothing filtered to the press as per the agenda of the day. Still, its timing has drawn attention from the public especially as it comes a few days after a three-day conclave of opposition leaders ended in Yaounde without agreement on a consensual candidate to challenge incumbent President Paul Biya during the October 12 polls. Interpretations are rife that his meeting with the international lawyer was to exchange views on a possible coalition. 
Just after meeting Akere Muna, the former Minister of State, Minister of Tourism and Leisure met with the National President and presidential candidate of the Cameroon National Salvation Front (FSNC), Issa Tchiroma Bakary, still in Yaounde. Images of their meeting circulated on social media, but no declarations.
