National Day Celebration : Parade Impresses Special Guests

Both foreign and national dignitaries invited to the May 20 Avenue yesterday were thrilled by the march past.
Over the years, the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, invites special guests to witness the National Day celebration commemorated on May 20. This year, national and foreign dignitaries were invited by the Head of State to have a foretaste of Cameroon’s National Day celebration through a military and civilian parade. Some of the special guests are witnessing the march past for the first time and others have been invited more than once. All the special guests were seated at the Presidential Tribune.
Amongst the special guests for the 53rd edition of the National Day was the Chief of Defence Staff, Armed Forces of Nigeria, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, who led the armed forces of his country’s contingent. The smile on his face could tell one thing; he was impressed by the National Day celebrations both at the May 20 Avenue and the reception offered at the Unity Palace by the Presidential Couple. To further make the Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff special, he was one of the people greeted by the Head of State upon arrival at the Presidential Tribune as well as prior to his departure. For the over one hour 30 minutes of civilian and military parade, the special guests had their eyes glued to the different persons who filled past before the Head of State in a display of total patriotism. “The parade from beginning to end has been wonderful. I want to thank the President of the Republic of Cameroon and all the members of this great country for the invitation to be here in Yaounde. You have watched the parade of my team (referring to the detachment of the Nigerian armed forces). We are very happy to be here and it shows the brotherly love we have between Nigeria and Cameroon,” stated the Chief of Defence Staff of the Nigerian Armed Forces, General Christopher Gwabin Musa.
