OIC Council of Foreign Ministers: Cameroon Presents Balance Sheet At Presidency

At the close of the 50th session on June 21, 2025, the outgoing President, Minister Mbella Mbella said the putting in place of an emergency humanitarian fund, the reform on the status of personnel, are some of the achievements.

For one year, Cameroon assumed the Presidency of the 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of members States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella at the helm. At the close of the session on June 21, 2025 in Türkiye, Minister Mbella Mbella presented his balance sheet as President. It also cumulated to the opening of the 51st session, chaired by the President of Türkiye, Tayyip Erdogan. Amongst the achievements was the organisation of the donors conference in Riyad, Saudi Arabia that led to the mobilisation of 1.1 billion US dollars for countries in the Sahel facing humanitarian crisis. Of the amount, 250 million US dollars will be put at the disposition of Cameroon. This will go a long way to help in addressing the humanitarian situation of internally displaced persons and refugees across the country. The relaunch of the railway project of Dakar-Port Sudan, passing through Cameroon, the putting in place of an emergency fund of the OIC, the reform on the status of personnel, the putting in place of a rehabilitation and insertion fund for youths in the Sahel and Chad, and the putting in place of a food security reserve of OIC in Cameroon are some of the achievements of Minister Mbella Mbella. In addition, the Islamic Solidarity Fund and the Humanitarian Fund of OIC was adopted and it is based in Doha, as well as the signing of the OIC convention to fight against terrorism.
