African Zone IV Karate Championship : Cameroon Wins 29 Gold Medals

The karate Lions won a total of 34 medals during the just ended competition in Ndjamena, Chad.

The 2025 African Zone IV Karate Championship ended at the Stade Miguel in Ndjamena, Chad, last weekend. Four countries took part in the championship or- ganized by the African Karate Union. They are Chad, Cameroon, Congo and Equatorial Guinea. Cameroon was represented in the competition by 33 athletes. The competition unfolded cadet, junior and senior categories. At the end of the com- petition, Cameroon emerged overall winners with a total of 34 medals; 29 gold, four silver and one bronze. The athletes competed in the kumite and kata disciplines both in the in- dividual and teams’ competitions. Kamte Esther won two gold medals for Cameroon in the women’s kumite and kata disciplines. Dzeu Nelly equally won two gold medals in the kumite and kata individual com- petitions. Other athletes like Kamte Esther, Nguemo Raphaël, Gonpogni Nanfack, Yomi Foko, Dzeu Nelly and Kenne Lopez all won gold for coun- try in both the women’s and men’s kata events.
