Fostering Social Cohesion : Peace, Unity Tournament In Bamenda

The 6th edition of the Bamenda I Peace and Unity Tournament kicked off on July 20, 2025 at the Bujong- Bamendankwe Community Field with Ntahghang Youths   facing the Bujong United Football Club at the opening match. The tough but very friendly encounter ended with the Ntahghang Youths carrying the day with a 1-0 victory. Day one of the encounter saw Shey Joel of Bujong emerging as Man of the match. The tournament is expected to run throughout the remaining weeks of the holidays involving several teams in Bamendankwe, Bamenda I Subdivision, all aimed at fostering social cohesion. 
The tournament under the patronage of Dr, Taniform Peter, a visionary leader and of the Bamenda1 municipality aims at maintaining the peace and hospitality that already exist in Bamenda1. According to Cup Sponsor, Dr Taniform Peter, they don't take the peace that exist in their community for granted, hence he wants the peace to spread to other communities of the North West Region and even beyond. He says his wish is to see that there is absolute peace not just within the indigenes but for people residing in Bamenda1. He added that his desire is to see youths who are engaged in the tournament to take absolute responsibility to know that more than 50 years ago he played in the same community and tapped a lot of wisdom through such activities and today he is positively impacting so many nations across the world.  He equally wants to see young people from his community making a difference across the world in various fields.
