Potable Water Supply Schemes : Thirteen Communities Targeted

New water tanks and catchment areas are to be built, raw water pipelines installed and water treatment plants of up 1,200 cubic metres a day constructed in some localities in Cameroon.
The government of the Republic of Cameroon is determined to render the issue of water shortages in some localities of the country a thing of the past. Senior Cameroonian government officials recently undertook a mission to London to meet with multilateral partners to finalise plans for the smooth take-off of work on the water supply schemes in some 13 urban and semi urban communities across the national territory.
For two days, beginning July 24, 2025, the government team led by Nzie Nzie Jean accompanied by Cameroon’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom H.E. Albert Njoteh Fotabong, the General Manager of Camwater, Blaise Moussa and others toiled tirelessly to find common grounds with multilateral partners like Biwater Global Solutions Limited, UKEF and CITI Bank officials on several technical aspects of the projects as well as funding for them.
Keen on returning to Cameroon with positive results, the Cameroonian team embarked on a working session with stakeholders of the water schemes, during which frantic efforts were made to get the projects off the ground as early as 15 September 2025. According to the terms of contract, new water tanks and catchment areas are to be built, raw water pipelines installed and water treatment plants of up 1,200 cubic metres a day constructed in localities like Betare-Oya and Mundemba and Bongongo in the South-West region. The scheme equally envisages renovation works on already existing water systems in the towns and villages earmarked.
