University of Buea : Driving School Now Operational

It was commissioned on July 30, 2025 to instill a culture of discipline, attentiveness and civil responsibility in drivers.
A modern driving school now sits in the University of Buea (UB). The school has five Oscar2 simulators, allowing students to train in a near-real condition. Also available are five vehicles adapted to learning to drive. These are equally digital and paper teaching materials. Currently, there are 49 students taking lessons. The kickoff for the school to go operational was given by the Director of Road Transport in the Ministry of Transport, Dr. Divine Mbamone Nkendong, on July 30, 2025.
Prof. Michael Ekonde Sone who represented the Vice Chancellor of UB, said UB Diving School will be a reference centre for road safety. A driving curriculum will be developed which will involve all UB’s establishments to explore aspects of safe driving environment. “Every safe driver contributes to the wellbeing of others. Every well trained driver reduces the risk of injury, loss of life, and property damage. UB driving school will not only teach individuals how to operate a vehicle; it will instill a culture of discipline, attentiveness and civic responsibility,” he said firmly.
