Cameroon Development Corporation : Management Decries Encroachment, Property Destruction

The General Manager on July 29 visited land encroached into and evaluated the damage caused on the semi-permanent structures housing workers and IDPs which were vandalized on July 28, 2025.

The management of Cameroon Development Corporation, CDC, has expressed utter consternation over the encroachment into the corporation’s land and the obliteration of semi-permanent buildings that hitherto housed some workers and IDPs. The incident took place on Monday July 28, 2025 at the 1.8 hectares CDC estate located opposite the BIR Camp in Ombe, Tiko Subdivision. Franklin Ngoni Njie led a team of top management staff of CDC to the site on Tuesday July 29, to assess the damages caused and seek immediate redress. 
“It is with total consternation that I observed the destruction. Consternation not because of the value that may have been lost but at the fact that something that is very important for the existence  of any State like the one we claim to hold to; the fundamental principle that we live in the State of law. That is what is being infringed upon.” The General Manager lamented while expressing bewilderment how individuals no matter how strong they may be, will challenge the State of law. 
The destruction of some 11semi-permanent buildings with four rooms each belonging to CDC is alleged to have been carried out by the traditional ruler of Meveo Me Mbenge village, a community which benefitted close to 40 hectares of resettlement land from CDC in 2017. The 1.8 hectares of land under dispute is located adjacent the portion of land which was ceded to Meveo Me Mbenge village.
