Fourth Universal Periodic Review : Cameroon Fine-tunes Midterm Report

A validation workshop was to that effect chaired yesterday August 21, 2025 by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of State, Minister of Justice, Jean de Dieu Momo.
For more than 15 years now, Cameroon has participated in the Universal Periodic Review mechanism of the United Nations Human Rights Council. It is a mechanism put in place by the international organisation that assesses progress made by each member State in the field of human rights every five years, based on the recommendations made during the previous cycles.
After the examination of its report under the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review in November 2023, Cameroon has prepared a midterm report which is expected to be submitted by November 2025, outlining progress made in implementing the 220 accepted recommendations, particularly those relating to the promotion and protection of civil, political, economic and social rights. It is against this backdrop that the Minister Delegate to the Minister of State, Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Jean de Dieu Momo, on behalf of the Minister of State, chaired the validation workshop of the midterm report under the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review and the follow-up report to the committee against torture on August 21, 2025. Indeed, Cameroon is a State party to the Convention Against Torture, and must also submit a follow-up report to the committee against torture by November 2025. The report is expected to cover the implementation of priority recommendations issued during the review of its sixth report under the convention against torture on November 13-14, 2024.
