Bakossi Festival of Arts and Culture : Preparations Heighten For Maiden Event

Preparations are hoting up ahead of the maiden edition of the Bakossi Festival of Arts and Culture (BAFAC). The event which is slated to run from August 27 to 30, in Tombel will gather together Bakossi people in Kupe Muanenguba Division of the South West Region and those of Moungo Division in the Littoral Region. It is the biggest cultural event aimed at celebrating and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Bakossi people across the two regions. 
Holding on the theme, “Celebrating the Heritage, Wisdom and Creativity of the Bakossi People,” the cultural festival will feature several activities including traditional dances, stage performance of Bakossi folklore music, exhibition of cultural artefacts and traditional tools, dressing and the traditional Bakossi cuisine, amongst others.  
Other highlights of BAFAC will include initiation of young Bakossi indigenes into traditional secret cults, construction of the traditional house known as “Ndab-Echum” which will serve as the cultural arena. There will also be symposiums with presentations on some key Bakossi cultural history, evolution and how some major traditional events are conducted.
