Bonaberi-Rond-Point: Hold-up Even at Night

Commuters on-board motor bikes take at least an hour while taxis go across the stretch for over three hours

 

Despite the deployment of additional forces of Law and Order to ensure the fluidity of traffic along the Rond-Point-Bonaberi stretch, the status quo persists. Circulation is very unpredictable during the day like at night. Commuters who thought leaving the house late was the problem resorted in leaving as early as 6 am only to be caught in traffic while those who thought plying the stretch at night is better, are caught in the same trap. When traffic is usually heavy during the day, some car owners will prefer to carryout unplanned visits to friends and relatives while others carryout unnecessary expenditures in beer parlours hoping that the traffic situation will improve only to regret at night when there is no turning back.
The traffic situation witnessed the whole of last week during the day and at night has made commuters wonder aloud as to when the situation would be arrested. It is no doubt that the greater contributing factor to the hold-up is the ongoing construction work on the second bridge and other constructions (roads etc) linked to the project, other factors including non-respect of traffic lanes and traffic policemen by road users and the numerous breakdown of heavy duty vehicles along the stretch is not helping matters.
