TICAD 9 : Japanese Minister Briefs PM

Miyaji Takuma was received by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, yesterday June 24, 2025.

Ahead of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), scheduled to take place in Yokohama from August 20-22, 2024, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan is in Cameroon. He has briefed the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute on the upcoming event. This was during an audience the later granted the former on June 24, 2025 at the Star Building. Speaking through an interpreter at the end of the audience, the Minister said the courtesy visit to the Prime Minister was characterised with meaningful discussions. “TICAD 9 is scheduled to hold in Japan at the end of August this year. As the Japanese government, we will like to invite Cameroon to attend this International Conference on Africa Development on a high level. We also discussed promoting cooperation centred on human resource development and social economic relations, including business,” he stated. The Minister of Foreign Affairs added that together with the Prime Minister, they reaffirmed their determination to continue enhancing bilateral relations bet- ween the two countries, and also discussed cooperation in the international scene. The same Japanese Minister paid a courtesy call to the Ministry of External Relations and was granted an audience by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu.
