Cross MINDEF 2025 : Oumarou Mohamadou, Takioh Winners

The ceremonial ground of the Military Headquarters Brigade in Yaounde was in a festive mood on Monday, May 19, 2025. The event was the 13th edition of the military race known in its French acronym as Cross MINDEF. Organised by the Ministry of Defence, the event brought together close to 400 participants from the five military regions in the country. Defence and security officials including civilians took part in this year’s race. 
The competition was part of activities to mark celebrations of the 53rd anniversary of National Day in Cameroon. The athletes who took part in this year’s Cross MINDEF competed in the senior, veteran and para sports categories. In the senior category, Caporal Oumarou Mohamdaou of the First Military Region was the first, covering the 14.8km race in 51’01”. Oumarou Mohamadou won the race for the second consecutive time. In the women’s competition, Takioh Amidou Beatrice won the women’s race in 1h 8’. Physically challenged athlete, Hamakreo Raphael won the 2k.8km race in 10’12”.
