Women In Uniform : Triumph Of Unity, Leadership

The military parade yesterday was a milestone which underscores the on-going progress toward gender equality and women’s empowerment within the security sector.

The vibrant city of Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon, witnessed a historic celebration of the 53rd National Day in a splendid march-past at the 20th May Boulevard during which women in uniform showcased their invaluable contribution to peace and security in the country. Under the watchful eyes of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Paul Biya, a score of dignitaries, and in the presence of the First Lady of Cameroon, women in uniform from the various military corps, marched-past at the 20th May Boulevard, yesterday May 20, 2025 in all greatness as a sign to attest that they are an important aspect to the unity and peace the country continues to enjoy each day. 
The march-past did not only celebrate the Unitary State of Cameroon, but also honoured the contributions of women serving in the Army, Police, Gendarmerie, Air Force, Navy, Penitentiary, Firefighting Brigade, Ex-service and Customs Administration amongst others. It is certain that the march-past would have been incomplete without a touch from women in uniform. The military parade lasted 45 minutes. This was enough time for women in uniform, in an aesthetic and colourful manner, to demonstrate in confidence that they are part of the bigger picture for peace and prosperity to reign in Cameroon. 
Through the rhythm of the bands of the Presidential Guard, the National Gendarmerie, the Main Band of the Army and the National Security Band, with Air Commodore Bede Benoit Eba Eba, Commander of the 2nd Joint Military Region, leading the troops, the female folks within fully displayed their military might amidst applause from on-lookers.
