Political Parties : Democracy On Display

A total of nine political parties represented in Parliament took part at the march past, carrying messages of national unity.
About 1,600 persons from nine political parties, all represented in Parliament participated at the parade of the 53rd edition of the National Day celebrated nationwide under the theme, “Army And Nation, United For A Cameroon Turned Towards Peace And Prosperity.” Watching the political parties march past yesterday in front of the President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Paul Biya, one could easily notice the display of democracy. There was equally the respect for gender equality in the different segments of the various political parties. Each of them were dressed in the fabric of the party and carrying messages that preach a peaceful and united Cameroon.
First to march past was the Cameroon National Salvation Front (CNSF), that carried the message on their banner “My country, my pride, my responsibility.” It was a clear indication of their attachment to nation building through the exchange of views in a responsible and civil manner. They were closely followed by the Movement for Democracy and the Defence of the Republic (MDR), a political party represented in the Senate. The Cameroonian party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) came in the third position, with one of their Members of Parliament (MP) taking part in the march past. The Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU) and the National Alliance for Democracy and Progress (ANDP) came next, equally bearing messages that reflect democratic principles. For the Union of the Peoples of Cameroon (UPC), patriotism is the bedrock of peace and national unity as displayed on their banners.
In the seventh position came the Social Democratic Front (SDF). Besides parading in party fabric, they had umbrellas in the white and green colours of the political outfit.
