Baptist World Alliance : Two Cameroonians Inducted Into Global Baptist Movement

Rev. Dr. Charlemagne Nditemeh and Edison Yuniwo of the Cameroon Baptist Convention were commissioned on July 10, 2025 in Brisbane, Australia at the world’s leading gathering of Baptist churches.

The Cameroon Baptist Convention, CBC, one of the officially-recognized Baptist denominations in the country, has lifted the nation’s image onto the global Baptist stage. This is sequel to the recent nomination, election and induction of two of its officials into the global Baptist fellowship, the Baptist World Alliance, BWA. They are Rev. Dr. Charlemagne Nditemeh, the immediate past Executive President of the Cameroon Baptist Convention, and Edison Yuniwo, the current President of the All-Africa Baptist Men's Fellowship, AABMF - the continent’s leading gathering of Baptist men's organisations.
The two were inducted into three Baptist World Alliance decision-making bodies or commissions on July 10, 2025 in Brisbane, Australia during the 23rd BWA congress that held from July 7-12, 2025. With theme, “Living the Good News” from Luke 4: 18-19. The congress drew over 4,000 delegates from 134 countries and territories across the globe. It holds every after five years (interspaced with annual BWA gatherings). The Baptist World Alliance is a fellowship of 266 Baptist conventions and unions from 134 countries and territories. It comprises 51 million baptized believers from 178,000 churches.
Edison Yuniwo was inducted into Baptist World Alliance Resolutions Committee. While Rev. Dr. Charlemagne Nditemeh was inaugurated into the BWA Commission on Doctrine and Unity, and the BWA Commission on Multi-faith Relations. Following the induction, Rev. Dr. Nditemeh presented a paper on "Living in a Multi-faith World."
“This is a huge responsibility not only conferred on them, but on the Cameroon Baptist Convention as a whole and their families. We must keep upholding them in prayers so that God will be seen and glorified through the work they have been called to do,” commented a Yaounde-based CBC member.

"God calls for a purpose. As we avail ourselves for service at this appointed time, He puts on the table what He wants us to do. We remain attentive for the assignment He has called us and the courage to get things done in the power of the Holy Spirit. Challenged by Luke 4:18, we humbly take service with the understanding that as members of the BWA Resolutions Committee, we seek to proclaim the Good News. It is also a call to deliberate action," said Edison Yuniwo after his induction.

“I am thankful to God for seeing me fit to serve Him beyond national and continental borders. I was surprised I was nominated and elected into two BWA commissions, despite the stringent conditions used… It is a humbling experience to serve in Baptist World Alliance commissions for a tenure or quinquennum of five years - from July 13,2025-July 15,2030,” Rev. Dr. Nditemeh reacted.
“Each commission has a maximum of 10 members. Along with them, I will try to see what we can do. In the Commission on Baptist Doctrine and Unity, I will research into different points on which Baptists are dissimilar and see how to clarify and harmonize these points. For example, some Baptist conventions or unions ordain female ministers who carry out all ordinances like male ministers.
“On the Multi-faith Commission, I will push the agenda of living peacefully with others even where there is no possibility of evangelizing people of other religions – by reaching out to them through our Christian lifestyles. I will also try to find out how Baptists around the world fair with other religions,” Rev. Dr. Nditemeh promised.
The Baptist World Alliance comprises three Cameroonian Baptist denominations - the Cameroon Baptist Convention, the Native Baptist Church and Union des Eglises Baptiste du Cameroun, UEBC. The Baptist World Congress is presented by the Baptist World Alliance, a fellowship of 266 conventions and unions from 134 countries and territories comprising 51 million baptized believers in 178,000 churches.
