Diplomacy : Australian High Commissioner Welcomed

External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella yesterday received the advance copies of the letters of credence of Leilani Bin-Juda Oam.
Australia’s High Commissioner to Cameroon, Leilani Bin-Juda Oam, with residence in Abuja, Nigeria, has presented her accreditation documents to External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella during an audience on August 5, 2025. Indeed, Leilani Bin-Juda Oam is the Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria, equally accredited to Cameroon, Gabon, Niger, Benin, The Gambia and ECOWAS. She was thus at the Ministry of External Relations within the framework of her mission of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries who are all members of the Commonwealth, during her tenure as High Commissioner.
According to the professional career of Leilani Bin-Juda Oam, she has previously served overseas in Tuvalu, Papua New Guinea, China and the Solomon Islands. She has been serving as Australia’s High Commissioner to Nigeria since November 2023.
Leilani Bin-Juda Oam comes from the Torres Strait in far north Queensland and has also been the Chief Executive Officer of the Torres Strait Regional Authority between 2020 and 2022 and the Director of the Torres Strait Treaty Liaison Office for four years (2016-2020).
The High Commissioner holds a Master in Cultural Diplomacy from Deakin University, obtained in 2008 and a Bachelor of Business from Central Queensland University in 1995.
During the audience, the High Commissioner assured the Minister of her collaboration to promote Commonwealth values and principles, while giving added value to the bilateral relations. On ...
